The Welcome Baby RN is responsible for visiting families at that critical first home visit after discharge from the hospital. The Welcome Baby RN is responsible for supporting families, conducting maternal and newborn assessments and providing parent education in the areas of postnatal care, breastfeeding, parent-infant attachment, home safely and other maternal and child health related topics.  Helps identify client strengths, needs, barriers and risks and provides community resources for those needs and provides and models empathetic support and feedback when working with new moms, babies and family members.

Public Health Nurse or RNs currently pursuing a PHN certification and will complete within one year of hire required. At least one year of experience in maternal and/or newborn services.   Bilingual in Spanish required. Knowledge of normal fetal, infant, and toddler development; prenatal and child health requirements; and early childhood education best practices.

At least five years experience working in Maternal-Child Health. Knowledge of normal fetal, infant, and toddler development; prenatal and child health requirements; and early childhood education best practices. 

Current California RN license required.
