Conducts clinical speech and language pathology services including patient evaluation, interpretation of evaluation results and intervention relating to various diagnoses for pediatric, child, adult and geriatric patients. The therapist will accurately assess and treat language/speech and swallowing impairments resulting from neurological insult/disease, developmental disabilities and delays, impaired oral motor abilities or laryngeal functions, dehydration/malnutrition or change in anatomy secondary to trauma or surgery. Communicates with physicians and other referral sources, and provides clinical guidance to non-licensed personnel. Works with various healthcare team members. The Therapist will administer contrast media, under the direct supervision of the attending radiologist, during videofluoroscopy in order to observe, collect data, and measure parameters of swallowing. Individual Therapists are assigned age population as per training.
Meets educational requirements for ASHA certification and current California licensure in Speech Pathology.
Completion of clinical fellowship year and required professional experience. Excellent customer service skills required.
Current California licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist. BLS Required. Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) through ASHA within 60 days of hire for Speech Pathologists who have recently completed their clinical fellowship year. Certifications required for specific procedures. Under extenuating circumstances, a grace period of no more than one month will be allowed for ASHA Certification of Clinical Competency renewals.
